Synopsis: A judge must decide the fate of a young boy who is refusing life saving medical treatment for religious reasons.
The Good: This is why we make film. The questions brought up in this story are complex, multi-layered and without clear answers. So much respect for not taking the easy way out and keepign the subplot equally complicated with no obvious villains and heroes. Life is messy and hard and the decisions we make affect far more than we could ever know.
The Bad: There’s only one issue I had and it was the time lapse confusion in the final act. How long exactly was that span? I dunno. I didn’t initially like the ending but it is exceptionally realistic.
Best Line: “Life is more precious than dignity.”
Fun Fact: The production was allowed to film at the entrance and in the foyer of the actual Royal Court of Justice in London. This is the only movie in recent times that got permission to do so.
