Synopsis: High schoolers set out to prove the legends of the Slender Man aren’t real but get more than they bargain for.
The Good: It’s creepy enough, with a regular backstory and a usual set up. A bunch of kids are gonna die and you know it. It’s got a ton of great atmosphere and a unique protagonist. Not your normal knife weilding maniac. I feel like the tension is pretty good throughout. The effects were very well done and there’s a lot to like here.
The Bad: It just doesn’t grab you…contrary to what the villain themselves would have you believe. It’s too understated. There isn’t enough to get you unsettled, out of your comfort zone and starting to really dread this thing. It falls just a tiny bit short. But it’s still a fun creeper for a non serious movie night.
Best Line: He gets in your head like a virus.’
‘What kind of virus?’
‘Like a computer virus that infects your hard drive, but instead of your hard drive, it’s your brain.’
Fun Fact: The tall doctor at the hospital, the one Hallie saw in the very dark corridor is the 6′ 8½” tall actor Javier Botet, who also portrayed the Slender Man.
