Synopsis: Teenagers get killed in the woods after fucking like rabbits.
The Good: This was the first horror movie I ever rented as a kid. That alone explains so much but it’s built on top of the well established template of the time. It’s one of the few films with a female killer and it manages to mostly stick to the tropes that made the genre popular. They did manage, even back then to have the pronouns discussion right up upfront insisting that that Angela is ‘she’ now.
The Bad: Trans people as psychopaths was a harmful and prejudiced stereotype that we’ve thankfully moved away from. At the time it was ‘edgy’ but now we can see it for what it is, villainizing and profiting off something that wasn’t well understood.
Best Line: Nice girls don’t have to show it off.’
Fun Fact: Pamela Springsteen didn’t let anyone know she was Bruce’s sister until after filming.
