Synopsis: A murder amidst the succesful run of a new Agatha Christie play, has life imitating art in a mysterious way.
The Good: The cast in this are amazing. I’m a huge Sam Rockwell fan and he doesn’t disappoint. Saoirse Ronan shows her versatility in a serious yet slightly comedic role. The twists are engaging and they handled having Agatha in her own story in a way that would have amused her, I think.
The Bad: Whether it’s bad or not, it is a film that requires constant attention. They do not spell anything out or let you catch up if you were, I don’t know, staring at your phone and not listening. I love those when I’m in the mood for them but it’s just to say, it requires commitment.
Best Line: “I’m afraid it goes against everything I hold dear in life. I’m a writer, you see. I can’t be told what to write or what not to write. It would be a denial of one’s freedom.”
Fun Fact: Richard “Dickie” Attenborough greets the detectives as “Darling.” This was a real-life quirk of Attenborough’s which he admitted he would often use if he forgot someone’s name.
