Synopsis: Two brothers go head to head in a pee wee football showdown for respect, revenge and defense of the underdog.
The Good: There’s a reason this is a classic. The story is tight and well produced. It’s a kid’s film so there’s more than a little artistic license but the whole thing comes off fun and uplifting with great performances from both leads and the cast. It’s funny without being ridiculous and true to the spirit of tween sports.
The Bad: Can I go on record with what an extremely questionable idea it is to call a12 year old girl ‘icebox’. Just…just saying it out loud. And of course all the uniforms and complete lack of structure in the real game, etc etc.
Best Line: Get ready dog breath. Because when I’m finished with you, you’ll be farting out of your mouth and talking out of your butt!
‘Is that physically possible?’
Fun Fact: This movie was inspired by an early 1990s McDonald’s ad about Pee-Wee Football that ran during the Super Bowl. The day after it aired, Steven Spielberg liked it so much that he called up the ad’s creator, James Ferguson, and hired him to write the script.
