Synopsis: A hypochondriac in a dead end job offers himself as a human sacrifice to an island tribe.
The Good: Tom Hanks rarely does bad movies. He’s funny and genuine and likeable. Meg Ryan should have won several awards for all the he characters she played. She was almost unrecognizable.
The Bad: The White Hero trope at its worst. Also, while most of the natives were played by dark skinned people, all the principle members were white. For comedic effect but it aged poorly. The plot just ends in the midst ridiculous way possible after a decent buildup like the writer just got bored with it.
Best Line: Whatever we do, wherever we go, are taking this luggage with us.’
Fun Fact: The lamp that Joe brings into his office displays the future events in the movie, including the yacht, a volcano (with the same twisting road) and a large full moon.
