Inglorious Basterds: (2009)

11/7/2024

Synopsis: A group of soldiers plot to kill Hitler and as many Nazis as possible.

The Good: They really went over the top on this one and it worked. The performances were obviously from actors enjoying their roles. It has a solid story arc and the payoff was well worth the wait.

The Bad: It’s Tarantino. You just know what you’re getting. This isn’t going to be an Oscar worthy film, it’s going to be pulp inspired, violent, heavy on the foot fetish and swearing.

Best Line: “We got a German here who wants to die for his country! Oblige him.”

Fun Fact: Quentin Tarantino was considering abandoning the film while the casting searched for someone to play Colonel Hans Landa, fearing he’d written a role that was unplayable. After Christoph Waltz auditioned, however, both Tarantino and producer Lawrence Bender agreed they had found the perfect actor for the role.
