Synopsis: A man living a boring repetitive life discovers an actor that looks just like him.
The Good: Denis Villeneuve is absolutely brilliant with a directing style that is miles ahead of the competition. Such an evocative, unsettling film. It is not light watching. Excellent performances all around.
The Bad: If you like tidy answers, you’re not going to get them but very few complaints.
Best Line: Control, it’s all about control. Every dictatorship has one obsession and that’s it. In ancient Rome they gave the people bread and circuses. They kept population busy with entertainment but other dictatorships used other strategies to control ideas, the knowledge… how do they do that? Lower education, they limit culture, censor information, they censor any means of individual expression and is important to remember this, that this is a pattern, that repeats itself through out history.’
Fun Fact: The cast signed a confidentiality agreement that doesn’t allow them to speak and/or explain to the press the meaning of spiders in the movie.
