Synopsis: Five siblings are left alone all summer when their mom leaves town and the evil babysitter bites the dust.
The Good: I was fully expecting to be disappointed as with most older flicks but not even close. It holds up well. Logical storyline, solid characterization, funny without trying. They had the chance to take the easy way out but chose to tell a better story which is something, as a writer, I thoroughly appreciate. It also goes a long way in pointing out the obvious shortcomings of the corporate world and subtly attacks the women in the workforce dichotomy.
The Bad: Nitpicking but this scenario should never play out. With social security numbers, legal requirements, etc it’s technically possible but unlikely that someone could lie themselves into a high paying position but hey… if the last few years taught us anything…
Also the timeline needed for creating an entire fashion show gala event is… slightly exaggerated. There was a slight rush to the climax but it worked out well enough.
Best Line: “The dishes are done, man.”
Fun Fact: In 2020, Danielle Harris (Melissa) said this is the only movie she’s made that she’ll actually watch if it’s on TV.
