Synopsis: A rich businessman goes back to college to support his freshman son.
The Good: It’s a funny movie with a heartfelt story that carries nicely. Rodney is wonderful and the supporting cast did well. This was a good one back in the day and it held up well enough. This was the film when I realized that the ADHD habit of procrastinating was supported so much by the 80s film, cram session montage where you can do absolutely anything at the last minute. Way to go Boomers/Gen X.
The Bad: I love the moral of this one: if you’re rich you can buy your way into anything. You can lie and cheat and if you get caught, lie about that, BS a little and cheat a little more. Everyone will cheer for you. America.
Best Line: What did he want?’
‘What does every man want?’
‘He wants you to dress up like Wonder Woman and tie him up with a golden lariat?’
‘No, Philip, just dinner.’
Fun Fact: The exam room from the film where Melon takes his exam is the same room from the audition in Flashdance.
