Synopsis: A transgender teenage girl on summer vacation in Los Angeles fights to survive after she falls in with four queer feminist vampires, who try to rid the city’s streets of predatory men.
The Good: Let’s see there must be some good…right? Actually, it was shot pretty well. The camera work, the mood, and the lighting, all were well done. Some risks seemed a little awkward but overall it worked. The story itself wasn’t bad, though the star is portrayed as a trans teen and somehow even though it was a ‘plot point’ it never played into the story and was treated so carefully that the fact never really mattered to the overall story at all. Not a good or bad thing in this case.
The Bad: The dialogue was weak in both writing and delivery throughout. Not a constant assault of poor lines but often enough. The CGI was what you’d expect from a lower-budget movie. This would be a decent first film for a new director or something you might catch on late-night.
Best Line: “What about my family?”
“What about ’em? Izzy directs music videos and visits her brother all the time. Frog does tattoos out of her dad’s shop in Eagle Rock. And Roya… has a cat.”
“Mr. Kitty.”
Fun Fact: Nicole Maines is a twin. Who has gone on to fight for trans visibility appearign in both Supergirl and Yellow Jackets.
