The Meg: ()

Synopsis:

The Good: Statham was pretty much himself and it worked alright for the character. For a monster flick, the effect was probably better than Jaws as far presence on screen (nothing can match the timing and long term presence of the original). It was better than I remembered from the first viewing years ago. I do really enjoy Rainn Wilson though.

The Bad: It was in no way good. The opening sequence was great but the premise is forced, the acting is average, the script barely existed (the book was bad too so no loss there.) In short, it felt like a big budget with no direction.

Best Line: “I can’t swim!… Sorry, my body made me say that.”

Fun Fact: Shark skeletons are made mostly of cartilage, but teeth and vertebrae of megalodon are widespread in the fossil record. This evidence shows they lived in our oceans from about 20 million years ago to about 3 million years ago. New estimates show them going extinct about 2.6 million years ago. – Florida Museum
